FLYING HOURS

Flying Hours is a photographic series captured during my trip to Adelaide, Australia in 2015. My grandfather had passed away and I was travelling for his funeral. Throughout the 43h journey, I flew through 5 airports, with varying wait times that allowed me to observe and capture the environment around me.

These photographs show the beauty of landing strips, the tranquility of empty waiting rooms and the stress of people rushing to catch their flights.

From a young age, I have always been fascinated by airports and air travel, so I decided to put my shyness aside and use my camera as a way to distract me from my thoughts and emotions. These images taken during my wait times helped me to keep my mind off of the purpose of my trip and see the space around me in a new way.
